I had my second teaching practicum on Monday, March 27th, 2017. I was in charge of continuing teaching the reported speech and reported questions.

I started the class greeting students. Then, I developed the warm-up activity in which I asked students to work in pairs and discuss one thing that they did on their weekend that was really good.  I liked this warm-up activity because when I asked students to share their opinions, they looked really motivated to talk about what they did, specially because they went to a camping and they were sharing their good moments with me.

After that, I made a review about the reported speech and reported questions. So, I pasted some examples in direct speech and direct questions and I asked students to help me to change them into reported speech and reported questions. Even though, this is a difficult topic that requires time to manage, students were participating and this is one thing that I liked of them because they tried and they were not afraid to be mistaken.

When I finished the review, I asked students to work on page 87, exercise 1 and read the paragraph paying attention to the structure of the sentences. Then, I asked them what similarities they could notice in the structures of the sentences with the examples that I gave them before in order to have them realize about reported questions.

Finally, I had students working on exercise 6. In this last activity, they had to choose the kind of reporter they would like to be, write the name of a famous person and 5 questions they would like to ask the famous person. Then, I had them working in pairs telling them that one would be the reporter and the other one the famous person, so the reporter had to take notes about the answers of the famous person using reported speech and reported questions.

Hello! I will tell you about my first class during this second period. I am teaching students from the English Access Program.

On Monday 20th, I had my first teaching practicum, and I was very nervous.

I developed a reading comprehension about successful people.  I think that what I did okay was start the class asking students about their weekend and one thing that they have done during the English Access Program that they would like to do again so that I learned a lot about the activities teachers have developed with them.

During the development of the class, students were very interested and they always paid attention to me which was great because it really showed me they were focused on my explanations and the content of the class.

One perfect aspect was that students were very active and they participated a lot.

It was also perfect bring a poster about successful people in which before I gave each group a reading about those people, I showed them the pictures of them  so that they had a better idea.

Aspects that I think I need to improve is my tone of voice because it was hard for students to listen to me and to understand me. Another aspect that I need to improve is my enthusiasm because I need to motivate Ss to speak, and I also need to consider that it is important to make CCQs to know if students understand.
